Yoga is something we do alone, even in a class of 20 or more students.  

 

Yoga is a journey to thyself

 

A practice of observation and faith

Observing our breath, (prana, our life force energy).  The physical body.  Our inner dialogue and emotions, which may arise during a class.  Observing them without judgment, believing in oneself, and believing that you can deal with the challenges and experiences in life.  Having the faith that there is a bigger picture and we are right where we need to be, whether we like where we are or not.

According to The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali - Chapter 1 Sutras 2 the definitions of Yoga

What to expect in my classes

In a yoga asana (poses) class, it shouldn't matter what everyone else is doing, whether the person on the mat next to you, can put their leg up higher than you, can do a headstand, or can touch their toes. 

You're here in a class for you and no one else.

As you walk through the doors you walk into a safe space, where it is just you and your mat, all judgments and criticism towards yourself and others are left outside. You are encouraged to let go of any emotional or physical pain.  Worries about yourself or others. Letting go of a bad day, week, month, or year. You are showing up for yourself in the present moment. 

 

When you leave my class, I wish for you to leave your worries and your self-criticism on the mat and you walk out of my class feeling lighter and free. 

Knowing that you will always have yoga waiting to welcome you back with open arms.

6 weeks ago I said to my husband " I might give Sarah a text and enquire into beginners yoga"Words I thought I'd never say as I reached for my large glass of wine and a bag or crisps.
The last few years have been a bit up and down for me, my weight has spiralled out of control, my anxiety was taking over everything and in June 2022 I lost my beautiful mum.
I didn't cancel, as I always do on people, instead I went to my first yoga 1:1 class and I am glad I did.
The last 6 weeks of yoga with Sarah has really opened my Body and Mind up to actually realising that sometimes you need to take time out for yourself, you need to know that emotions are good to express and above all you need to know, being KIND to yourself is so Important. My anxiety slowly felt less. I know I still need to work on this and that's why I've decided to carry on with Sarah and her yoga classes
